I’m not sure how to characterize the genre of this song. Kevin was a professional opera singer who now writes folk songs. I guess it’s simply a folk song with the vocal quality of an opera singer.
Verse 1
One less love song that I need to sing
One less flower I need to bring
One less place that I need to be
Unless you’re in love with me
Verse 2
I’ve wondered at the stars above
I’ve wondered at the mystery of love
I’ve wandered years to find such as you
I catch my breath at the wonder of you
Chorus
And the world turns too quickly it seems
As we turn two of us dance in my dreams
‘Til the night turns to day and takes me from you
‘Til you tell me it’s you I can turn to
Verse 3
Goodbye days of loneliness
Goodbye nights of emptiness
Goodbye sorrow if you decide
Life would be good by my side
Verse 4
I see springtime in your face
I see summer’s gold embrace
I see the fall as love’s fiery dart
As the icy winter in your heart
Chorus
And the world turns too quickly it seems
As we turn two of us dance in my dreams
‘Til the night turns to day and takes me from you
‘Til you tell me it’s you I can turn to
Bridge
Oh, how, long will it take
Long are the days ’til you see that it’s fate
I long for the day when I becomes we
The day you decide you belong here with me
